Exporting Open Purchase Orders and Sales Orders from QuickBooks

QuickBooks Desktop (Pro, Premier or Enterprise) > Transaction Pro Exporter
The QuickBooks Software Development Kit does not have an open/closed field available to developers on purchase orders and sales orders.  However, you can get this data by manipulating the excel file.  Read more below.

For Purchase Orders
  1. Export your purchase orders to Excel
  2. Add a column to the Excel file and take the difference between the following two columns:  TxnLine Quantity and TxnLine Received Quantity
  3. Remove any rows that have a zero value and you will have open orders only
  4. Be sure to resort your file by the column that is headed RefNumber so that all the lines on the same order appear sequentially in the file
For Sales Orders
  1. Export your purchase orders to Excel
  2. Add a column to the Excel file and take the difference between the following two columns:  TxnLine Quantity and TxnLine Invoiced
  3. Remove any rows that have a zero value and you will have open orders only
