Troubleshooting Journal Entry Imports into Quickbooks

QuickBooks Desktop (Pro, Premier or Enterprise) > Transaction Pro Importer
This article includes common error messages received during a Journal Entry Import and how to resolve them.

Entity does not exist
When importing a journal entry and specifying a name, that name must exist in the QB file; whether it be a customer, vendor, etc.

Journal Entry Requires Positive Values
When importing a journal entry where you have a debit and credit column, be sure you use positive numbers for both sides. If a debit or credit contains a negative value, QuickBooks will return the cryptic error: indicated object failed validation.

Indicated failed object validation Error Message

QuickBooks may return this or a similar generic error message to TPI which maybe the result of one or more causes.

1. You have a debit or credit with a negative value. Negative debits should be changed to positive credits; negative credits should be changed to positive debits.

2. You have a journal entry line hitting an Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable Account and have not specified a Customer (AR) or Vendor (AP) under the name column.

3. You have 2 or more lines hitting an Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable Account which QB will not allow.
